Dribble Prints
“In the series of dribble prints, I began by painting my basketball and the bottoms of my sneakers. Then, I performed a variety of ball handling drills on the surfaces of my papers. The surfaces of these portraits are records of actions I’ve done thousands of times growing up practicing at the gym, in my driveway or with my teammates. In the works themselves, I rely on tight line work and loosely on photographic sources, to navigate the prints, splashes and dragged marks from my basketball and shoes.” – Holly Grimsrud
